En aquest tipus de flux la velocitat del fluid en qualsevol punt no canvia amb el temps, sent la llei de Newton de la viscositat la que regeix el flux laminar. L&#8217;acci\u00f3 de la viscositat pot esmorteir qualsevol tend\u00e8ncia turbulenta que pugui oc\u00f3rrer en el flux laminar.<\/span><\/div><p>En situacions que involucrin combinacions de baixa viscositat, alta velocitat o grans cabals, el flux laminar no \u00e9s estable, el que fa que es transformi en flux la superf\u00edcie del vehicle. Les part\u00edcules d&#8217;aire que estan en les capes m\u00e9s pr\u00f2ximes a la superf\u00edcie del vehicle, per efecte del fregament, es mouen pr\u00e0cticament a la mateixa velocitat que el vehicle. Aix\u00ed que ens anem allunyant de la superf\u00edcie, les successives capes es mouen a velocitat cada vegada inferior fins arribar a l&#8217;\u00faltima capa la qual no es veu afectada pel pas del vehicle i roman sense alterar la seva velocitat. Aquest gruix d&#8217;aire es denomina capa l\u00edmit.
